Gang fight in Maafannu leaves 2 critically injured

Male' - 17:50 - A serious fight between two rival gangs in Maafannu ward this afternoon has left two people critically injured, according to informants. Source revealed that, the friction had been building between two gangs for the past three days but Golhaa Force ignored the requests for intervention from the public. One group, believed to be associated with BG attacked a group called WCK, said the informant. "I am told that BG people ran after the others with iron bars and beat the hell out of one person." said a neighbour. "One person is in critical condition in IGMH with a severe head injury," confirmed another source. Since the incident, Golhaa Force has been deployed in large numbers to the area, near AMDC Clinic and Hotel Yageen. "Where is Golhaa Force when you really need them? They are not there for protecting us but Golhaabo only. Male' is so unsafe now, because Golhaa Force does not deal with these gangs and thugs," one angry neighbour said.

The neighbourhood is well known for this kind of fights but this was one of the serious incidents, said a resident of the area. Graffiti and paint on the road surfaces, as well as rubbish dumps are common in this area. And, Golhaa Force does nothing to sort out the mess, says locals.
